A RESIDENTS' group is nominating a kind-hearted man for the Warrington Guardian's Neighbour of the Year award.

Ged Kelly, of Grafton Street, is held in high esteem by Whitecross Residents' Association, says Lucy Knight, of Wellfield Street.

Lucy, aged 28, said: "Since we moved to the area 12 months ago, Ged has helped us tremendously. He has

introduced us to our neighbours so we could integrate easily. When we are away he keeps an eye on our house for us."

Ged, aged 59, has also had a huge influence on the Whitecross community, says Lucy, who lists his excellent listening skills, willingness to give of his time and promotion of community issues.

She said: "Ged listens to everyone and helps in every way he can for both the young and old.

"He has been very influential in our community including having increased lighting put in the park to improve safety. Ged also works very closely with the elderly, he visits the community centre on a Wednesday and a Friday so he can chat to them.

"Words can't sum up what a fantastic neighbour Ged is. His actions speak for him not words."
