AN angel lives in Orford, says the neighbour of a woman who works tirelessly for the good of others.

Beryl Smith, a 79-year-old widow, of St Peter's Way, Orford, says her neighbour Margaret Sutcliffe lights up her life.

She said: "My life would be very lonely but for angels like her."

Beryl, who lives alone and has no children, says nothing is ever too much trouble for Margaret, who visits her every day for a chat and to help with household chores.

Beryl said: "I'm sure it's impossible to find a better neighbour than mine. Nothing is too much trouble for her.

"I'm not in very good health and my husband passed away five years ago but Margaret has never missed a day since to come and see me, which I look forward to very much as I have no children of my own.

"I could write a book about what she does for people. You name it, Margaret does it. For instance, she has just come and insisted she will take my washing to the laundrette."

As well as giving of her time to Beryl, Margaret also visits other pensioners.

Beryl said: "We have an old people's home across the road from me - St Peter's Court - and she is the same with people in there, you can ask any of them."
