TWO greyhounds covered in pressure sores are receiving treatment after being tied up and abandoned.

Both animals arrived at Warrington's RPSCA centre within 24 hours of each other over the weekend.

One was found in Sankey Way and the other in Helsby.

Christine Walkden, the Slutcher's Lane centre manager, said: "They have both got open wounds and smell like they have been like that for a while."

Nadine Pengilly, RSPCA inspector for Warrington and Runcorn, said: "They are both very skinny and have pressure sores consistent with them being locked in a shed.

"I think they have been left to stand in their own urine.

"Because of their condition, we would like to trace the owners with a view to prosecution."

The animals are being treated by a vet and will be re-homed by dog wardens.
