A MAN was sprayed in the face with a dangerous substance while withdrawing cash from a machine at the Birchwood Centre on Saturday.

This happened just 15 minutes after a 47-year-old man was sprayed on the footpath next to Birchwood Expressway at around 5.25pm.

In both cases the offender attempted but failed to get cash from the victims, and police believe the two incidents may be connected.

At around 6pm a man was discovered in the kitchen of a house in Old Warrington Road, Risley, but made off when confronted by the occupants.

Police are urging anyone to come forward with any information, including a woman who was at the Birchwood Centre and may have been waiting for a lift at the time of the second incident.

The offender is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, of heavy build and with short dark brown or black hair, wearing a long sleeved horizontal striped top and riding a small bike.
