THE fourth annual charity lunch organised by the Warrington Islamic Association has raised just under £1,000.
The lunch, held at the Islamic Community Centre Lockton Lane, Bewsey, included a charity auction and attracted guests from the police, fire service, St Rocco's, Warrington Borough Council and Warrington Disability Partnership.
The auction raised £340 and lucky bidders include Clr Pauline Nelson who won an exclusive book signed by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
Sundeep Bhalla picked up a Warrington Wolves family ticket.
The lunch was also a time for reflection with Mushtaq Ahmed, chairman of the Warrington Islamic Association, noting the success of the community over the past five years especially bringing the Muslim and non-Muslim communities together.
Scholar Maulana Taugeer Ishaq provided an insight into the concept of charity and the challenges of life.
While Kiran Malik and Sehreen Shafaat recited a Surah from the Quran about charity.
