THE changes that will bring a new look to policing in Cheshire have already begun as divisions make way for Neighbourhood Policing Units (NPUs).

Foundations for the county's NPUs have already been laid and the inspectors heading up each of the 18 units will spend the next few weeks and months fine tuning the units until they are all up and running by mid June.

Each NPU will have its own Investigation Team to tackle low level crimes such as burglary and theft from cars, and Community Action Teams will join them to provide high profile policing and look for long term answers to problems of disorder and neighbourhood crime.
