A LORRY turned on to its side when it crashed into the rail bridge on Battersby Lane.
The immediate area was closed to traffic, although nobody was seriously injured in the incident last Thursday afternoon.
Sgt Mike Jones from Warrington's traffic unit said: "The wagon was coming from Carrington Wire, it passed the first derelict bridge and as it came to the second, impacted with the bridge.
"Because the bridge is set at an angle it turned the lorry over on to the driver's offside.
"The driver suffered minor injuries, amounting to a bruised ankle as his foot was trapped under the pedal.
"It could have been serious if anybody had been using the footpath."
