Alex Clare captained the side for the first time in a great win as they claimed the scalp of Thatto Heath. The Hornets started with some brilliant rugby and soon breached the Heaths' line as Jack Buck crossed for a converted try after a blustering run from Alex Clare.

Injuries to Dean Ainsworth and Jack Owens slightly upset the Hornets rhythm and Thatto took advantage to take the score to 12-6 with two converted tries.

Just before half-time the Hornets showed great resolve and hit back with Lewis Hulme scoring the equaliser.Jack Buck scored his second after the break but the conversion attempt sailed wide only for Thatto to restore their lead with a good try under the posts.

With Owens and Ainsworth recovered the Hornets threw their full attacking force at Thatto's defence, coming close on several occasions.

The Heath were now mastered by the Hornets defence with Alex Clare and Mark Percival to the fore and with only two minutes remaining it was Lewis Hulme who found himself in the clear as the ball was moved swiftly across the field to touchdown for the winner.
