A PAIR of Middlewich runners will be making tracks down south to pound the streets of the capital city in the 25th London Marathon.

Jayne Lomax, of Kingswood Crescent, and Andrew Cann, of Stallard Way, have both signed up to run the 26.2 miles this Sunday and are running for Kirsty's Appeal and Get Kids Going respectively.

Jayne, 38, has already run the Blackpool and Anglesey marathons and is counting down the days until she gets behind the starting line.

She said: "It's just a childhood dream. I've been watching it for years and I'm pushing 40 so I just though 'I'll go for it'.

"I saw a programme about Kirsty and thought that as well as getting something out of this for myself I would make an effort to help someone else."

Jayne, who works at Priors Hill Children's Centre in Macclesfield, wants to beat her previous record of 4h 20m.

Andrew, 40, ran the marathon in 4h 57m last year and raised money to buy a piece of equipment for Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool where his two-week-old daughter Rebecca died in 1994. Andrew, who is coaching director at Middlewich Town Football Club, said: "I really wanted to run to help disabled children and young people to get going. As soon as I crossed the finishing line last year I knew I wanted to do it again."

l Jayne has set up donation collection boxes in the following locations: The Turnpike, The Vault, Cats Bar, The White Bear, Kings Lock, Middlewich Royal British Legion, The White Horse, The Narrow Boat and Rob's Chippy.
