AN appeal has gone out to adopt a duck for St Luke's Hospice in Winsford.

By splashing out just £1, individuals can adopt a fluffy yellow duck - and take him home with a personal

adoption certificate.

Children and staff from Oakmere Nursery, based at Blakemere Craft Centre in Sandiway, have already given homes to a total of 25 ducks.

Wendy Gibson, fundraising manager at St Luke's Hospice, based in Winsford, said: "We call the baby ducks 'Quackers' and they have become our 'Go Yellow appeal' campaign buddies.

"The colour yellow is the theme of the national hospice movement and so during April, May and particularly June we are hoping that businesses will take part in yellow fundraising events to help the hospice."
