A NEW tenants group is hoping to attract council house residents.

Tenants 4 Tenants is based in Castlefields in Runcorn but wants people to join from the soon-to-be transferred council housing.

"I think with the council tenants going into a new housing association tenants need help from people who know how housing associations work," said one of the members, Alan Griffiths. "We can't promise we will solve everything but we will look into everything and use every channel we know of to try and put things right if there is a problem."

Mr Griffiths said Tenants 4 Tenants incorporates around 300 homes. He said the group is looking not just to expand but to makes with other associations.

"We've had people from Liverpool phoning is up asking questions and we are in contact with an association in Everton," he said. Locally, the group is looking at getting reduced bus fares to the shopping city and at the run-down community centre.

"It's a place that needs revitalising," said Mr Griffiths, who recently ran for the chairmanship of the area panel.

He has already campaigned on local issues like the reduction of a service charge and admits housing association CDS may see him as a 'thorn in the side'.

But he said: "If I think something is wrong I will get in there and fight my corner."
