REGULAR litter collections could be on the cards in Moulton after a worrying increase in the messy problem.

As reported previously in the Guardian, residents have expressed concerns about the amount of litter in the village and the potential danger to children, especially after broken glass was found in the safety matting on the play area.

Members of Moulton Parish Council are considering whether they need to arrange for regular litter collection and general maintenance on a contractual basis.

Elaine Beech, clerk of the parish council, said: "Some days it's worse than others, so councillors have got to decide whether or not to go down the road of some sort of contract or respond to the problem as and when it is necessary.

"It becomes costly if it is built up into a regular thing but you're guaranteed it would always be tidy - although it could get messy the day after it had been tidied."
