IN days when ambulance call outs in an emergency are criticised for being too slow to respond, we would like to tell you of the quick response to our emergency call.

We had just opened our shop on Station Road on a wet Friday morning when an elderly gentleman on a crutch, walking painfully slowly and ashen-faced called out 'get me an ambulance please'.

We helped him into the shop, sat him down and rang the emergency number. While we waited he told us he was having an angina attack, fortunately he had a spray with him.

What a relief it was to hear the ambulance siren - they had responded to our call within five minutes. Within another five minutes the gentleman was off to hospital.

I noted the number of the ambulance was 125 T430 and would like to thank the crew for its prompt response to our call.
