THE Frontrunner premier division continues to provide great entertainment, Halebank romped to a 5-0 result against Haydock.

Elsewhere, Beeches claimed a comfortable 3-0 win over Moorfield to move well clear of the foot of the table.

Vulcan and St Michaels played out a tame draw, 2-2 the final score in the mid-table encounter.

Rainhill Town's late title run in the Grange Valley sponsored first division took a surprise turn with a rare mid-week home defeat at the hands of Cronton Villa.

Villa, who has hit late form in the campaign after a sticky start, shook Town with a hard-earned 2-1 win.

Town recovered on Saturday however, with a stunning six-goal salvo at Avon Athletic.

Two defeats at the hands of Greenalls and then Halton Borough have moved Silverbirch next to bottom.

Beechwood have moved to within two points of the second division crown after the week's action.

Beechwood's well-earned maximum point haul at Orford looks to have wrapped up the championship for Beechwood.

Mill Brow compounded Burtonwood Albion's fears with a 3-1 win; goals by Paul Giles, Lee Faulkner and Ryan Giles left Albion four points adrift.

Act R Sports would now seem favourites to claim the third division title.

In mid-week they held leaders Runcorn Athletic to a 3-3 draw in a real seesaw encounter.

But on Saturday Act R cut loose to destroy Village Social 8-3.

The result leaves Athletic five points ahead of their main challengers but Act R have two games in hand to move ahead.

In reserve division one, Moorfield Reserves were comprehensively taken apart by Rainhill 3rds to seal top spot and end any thoughts of a title.

Moorfield's hold on second spot looks in further doubt as all their nearest rivals have games in hand, whilst Moorfield have finished their programme.

Cronton Villa Reserves are well placed for second spot, whilst Monks Sports will also harbour those ambitions.

Vicars Reserves claimed the reserve division three crown with two games to spare with their 4-1 demolition of nearest rivals Moorfield 3rds on Saturday.

Fife were undone by Runcorn Albion in a close game, Albion's 3-2 victory probably securing a top three finish for the Pavilions outfit.
