BIDDULPH Vics are back in the relegation zone after victories for Studley and Causeway on Tuesday.

The Vics were fourth from bottom after their 1-1 draw on Saturday, but dropped back two places after Tuesday night's matches.

Causeway beat Romulus 3-1 away, and Studley won 1-0 at home against Ludlow.

The results leave the Vics second from bottom, one point behind Causeway and two behind Studley, with a game in hand on each.

Tom Pope struck for the Vics on Saturday to earn his side a vital point in their relegation battle.

Pope scored on 31 minutes to make it 1-1 in the Vics' home clash with fellow strugglers Alvechurch.

The match saw Davenport return for the Vics for his first game since January, and Peter Weston made his home debut after signing from Newcastle Town.

Alvechurch pressed from the start, and took the lead on 15 minutes from the penalty spot.

Weston conceded the spot kick when he brought a player down, and Dodds took the penalty.

Vics' keeper Intihar got a hand to the kick, but the power of the shot carried the ball into the corner of the net.

The Vics' injury jinx struck again on 25 minutes when Simon Guest pulled up with an ankle injury, which required him to be replaced by Aaron Kelter.

The Vics equalised when Callan played the ball into the penalty spot, and Pope rose well to glance a header into the bottom corner of the net.

Marrow had a chance to give the Vics the lead in the second half, but the keeper pushed his drive out for a corner.

The Vics travel to third-placed Quorn tomorrow, and next Tuesday are at home for the last time this season when they take on Stourbridge.

A benefit game has been arranged for Wednesday May 4 for Vics' players Lee Mayer and Neil Pestridge, who broke their legs within six days of each other.

Numerous ex-Newcastle Town players and former colleagues of the two players have promised to turn out for the game.

Biddulph Vics and Newcastle Town supporters are being asked to support the match, the proceeds of which will go to the players.
