RUNNER James Parker will be a good catch for any club that he may join in the future.
The 10-year-old from Appleton competed as an unattached runner in the Manchester Indoor Open Athletics competition at Sport City, Manchester, and showed his flying speed to win the 60m and 200m sprints.
He also finished fourth in his first competitive attempt at long jump, in an event that attracted entries from some talented junior athletes from across the north west.
James came home in 9.3secs to win the 60m and clocked 31.9secs to receive first prize in the 200m.
The pupil of Altrincham Boys Preparatory School intends to qualify for the National Independent Schools Championships, which will take place on June 22 at Alexandra Stadium, Birmingham.
And he is equally at home at longer distances as he is at sprinting, having finishing first in the race for under 11s in the North of England Independent Schools Cross Country Championships at Altrincham two months ago.
