A CLUB with a base in Culcheth won more medals than any other in the AMA North West Karate Championships on Sunday.
Six of the medals won by North West Karate Academy students were gold and were claimed in one of the kata (patterned moves) categories by Luke Scott, Zach Scott and Paul Charlton, while Luke also won gold in fighting (kumite).
Team golds in kata were awarded to Lauren Middlehurst, Nicole Halsall and Amy Nelson, while golds in kumite were won by the team of Zach, Becky McLorie and Matthew Horton plus the team of Paul, Lauren and Amy.
Individual silver medals were achieved in kata by Amy and Alex Hodge, while Carl Massey won his in kumite and a bronze in kata.
Other individual bronzes were won in kumite by Matthew, Amy, Aaron Lawrenson, Sophie Johnson, Alex and Becky.
Bronze successes came in team kata events too, with Becky, Natalie Charlton and Amy finishing third and also Zach, Matthew and Aaron coming third, while Amy, Natalie and Aaron gained bronze in team kumite.
