LYMM Colts can secure their place in a showpiece Twickenham final on Sunday when they face Worcester at Doncaster RFC.

Lymm recorded a 17-6 home win against Leeds outfit Moortown at the weekend to win the RFU Northern Division under 17s Championship and put them through to the national semi finals.

There they will face Midlands Division champions Worcester, with the winners going through to the final at the home of English rugby union.

Colts came out on top in an exciting contest in the final of the northern section of the knockout competition despite falling 6-0 behind after conceding two penalties.

They came back strongly as Jack Warrington touched down, before Marcus Pemberton put Lymm ahead in the second half after being set up by Matthew Hennessey.

And Colts sealed victory in the last minute as Matthew Barnes-Smith's angled run allowed him to cut through and score.

Lymm's first team will finish in fifth place in Powergen North Two West after a 34-19 win at home to Fleetwood on Saturday.

Nick Shaw's penalty gave Lymm the lead, before he added a conversion after David Williamson had registered the first try.

Fleetwood surged back into the game with two tries to put them 12-10 ahead, but captain Chris Kinsey restored Lymm's lead just before half time.

The visitors went in front again, before the lead changed hands for the final time as Peter Millachip crossed after receiving Keith Broadbent's off-load.

Lymm gave the scoreline a convincing feel as right winger Ben Murphy weighed in with two more tries.

They travel to Bowdon on Saturday for the final game of the league season.

Lymm's second string let slip a late lead to go down to a 15-14 home defeat against New Brighton's seconds in the North West Fairclough Homes Premier Division, with John Millachip grabbing two tries.

However, the thirds secured promotion to Division Two with a 24-6 victory at Manchester Wanderers' seconds, as Rob Potter, Paul Rathbone, Chris Horne and P Williams all crossed.
