WHAT would you ask your local member of parliament if you had the chance?

This is the position I was put in as a member of Youth Parliament (MYP) when a meeting was arranged for us with Helen Southworth, MP for Warrington South.

Entering with a long list of questions each, Sehreen Shafaat (MYP), Andrew Rogerson (deputy MYP) and I were ready to grill Helen on all aspects of her job in government - locally and nationally.

Helen was very articulate and friendly, and soon broke the ice by asking us questions about our responsibilities in our roles.

It was a great opportunity to look at issues that affect young people in Warrington, to share our opinions and to see how our local MP would respond.

Of course, in traditional political style, Helen could respond to anything we asked - from the election, to the war on Iraq to the dispersal orders in Culcheth.

She was clearly unafraid to share her opinion with us!

During the meeting we realised that some problems in Warrington, such as anti-social behaviour, aren't as straightforward as they appear. Political issues like this affect everyone.
