WITH reference to the article (Guardian, March 31), about the increased parking charges at Cockhedge Centre, you did not mention the fact that free parking for blue badge holders had been discontinued. Disabled people now have to pay the normal charges, something that I find appalling. There are very few disabled spaces and it is often difficult to find one - now we have to pay for the privilege. I feel that they are taking advantage of the reduced available parking in Warrington town centre, and know that people will have to park.
Also I would like to comment on Alison Badger's letter and similar ones that have been in the paper recently.
People seem to think that Riverside Retail park car parking is a free car park for commuters.
The car park is for shoppers using the centre. Since the ticket system was abandoned I have great difficulty finding a disabled space - they are taken up by commuters who do not display blue badges. No-one seems to be patrolling this car park.
There are good public transport links into the town centre, so I do not see why healthy people cannot use these.
