PROMOTION of the UEFA Women's Championship continued when a football fun day for girls took place in Warrington.
The event took place at Vida in Long Lane and was organised by Rugby League club Warrington Wolves, whose Halliwell Jones Stadium will be hosting four games in the prestigious championship in June.
Girls in years seven and eight from high schools across the town were taught skills by Sport Cheshire coaches, and took part in five-a-side games and penalty shoot-outs.
There was also an opportunity to have a close-up view of the new Euro 2005 trophy, which has been on a tour of the north west since Easter.
Former Warrington Sports Personality of the year and Great Britain Rugby League international Jane Banks, who is the active communities development coordinator at Warrington Wolves, said: "The event continued the build-up to the women's championship but also falls into my project, girl power, which aims to get girls involved in sport outside of school time."
