WARRINGTON Town's recent downturn in fortunes continued when captain Danny Salt had to leave the ground shortly before Tuesday night's match at Woodley Sports after his wife went into labour.

Salt was all set to play having changed into his kit, but had to make a swift exit before the clash, which Town lost 1-0 despite creating enough chances to win comfortably.

Glenn Walker's side were also unlucky to only draw 1-1 at home to Clitheroe on Saturday, but they now lie just two points clear of the UniBond First Division relegation zone after Rossendale won again at the weekend.

Town now have three matches left to ensure their safety, starting with a trip to fourth-placed Ilkeston on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
