A PENSIONER was attacked and robbed as she walked through Haydock on Friday night.
The 74-year-old woman was walking along Park Street when she was approached by two men at 9.30pm.
One of them grabbed her handbag and then pushed the woman - causing her to fall to the ground.
The pair then ran off with her bag in the direction of Clipsley Lane.
The woman suffered cuts and bruises in the fall and was taken to the nearby Whiston Hospital. She has since been released, a hospital spokesman has confirmed.
Detective Constable Julie Newton, from Merseyside Police, said: "This lady was left very shaken by the robbery and this has been a very upsetting time for her.
"Cowardly people who seek to profit by robbing elderly or vulnerable people in this way have absolutely no respect for their victims or the distress they cause.
"I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information, to call us."
Both offenders are described as white, aged around 18 and 19, around 5ft 8ins tall and of a slim build. Both had short, dark hair and were clean shaved. They were wearing dark clothes.
One of them had a local accent, according to detectives.
Anyone with information should call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 8566 or the Crimestoppers hotline, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
