bit of animal magic at Walton Zoo
A DEDICATED teenager has brought out his animal side, volunteering more than 200 hours at Walton Zoo.
Adam Shaw, aged 18, gave up his time to work with the animals at Walton Hall Gardens to help achieve his dream of attending agricultural college.
Adam has dyspraxia, a hand and eye co-ordination problem, but this does not stop him completing health checks at the zoo, watering and feeding the animals.
Adam said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering at the zoo. Through Millennium Volunteers I have gained the confidence and skills to do things that I didn't think I was capable of before."
The zoo attracts 300,000 visitors a year and Adam also enjoys answering questions about the animals.
As an integral part of the zoo's team, Adam has helped retain the Green Flag Award for a second consecutive year.
