MR Smith, owner of the Bridgefoot nightclub, died on Friday.
John Smith, aged 66, died peacefully in Liverpool after an illness - his funeral will be on Monday at Windle Crematorium, St Helens.
Former manager of the nightclub Alby O'Brien paid tribute to Mr Smith.
He said: "John was a very charismatic person and as far as we're concerned he put Warrington on the map. The club is a reflection of him. He lived Mr Smith's and his personality came out through the club.
"I've known him more than 20 years but it seems like the blink of an eye."
Mr Smiths night club is 20-years-old this May.
