A MOTHER and child escaped from a car crash without serious injury after their vehicle left the road and overturned.

The incident happened at 9.50am last Tuesday, April 12, on Bradford Road when the Volkswagen Golf Gti left the road and ended up on its side in a field.

Firefighter Ronnie Moore, who attended the scene, said: "The car was travelling from the Whitegate direction towards Winsford when the car left the road on a bend, crashed through the fence and rolled a couple of times before resting on its side.

"The woman and her child escaped from the vehicle with just shock."

Firefighter Moore issued a warning to drivers following the incident, adding: "Beware of slippery road conditions and reduce speed at all times, especially if you are unfamiliar with the road.

"Always wear seatbelts and make sure any items within the cabin such as toolboxes are secure to avoid any further injuries in case the vehicle should overturn."
