PLANS to build a 'supercentre' in Winsford to replace overflowing doctors' surgeries will be discussed by councillors tomorrow night, Thursday.

The £5million Winsford Health Park will provide services currently unavailable in the town if the scheme is given the go ahead.

Vale Royal Borough Council's planning committee is expected to approve the plans and allow Central Cheshire Primary Care Trust to forge ahead with the facility on land off Dene Drive.

The supercentre will incorporate all of the town's doctors' surgeries under one roof and will mean patients no longer have to travel to Leighton Hospital in Crewe for services such as minor operations, blood tests and physiotherapy.

The new facility would also allow the existing High Street centre to be used for the provision of mental health services for the first time in the town.

The council has received three letters of objection from residents concerned about security, a loss of privacy, increased noise, pollution and disturbance, as well as increased vandalism.

Henry Davidson Developments was this week confirmed as developer for the state of the art centre. See next week's Guardian for the outcome of the planning committee meeting.
