RELEGATION became a two-horse race between Runcorn and Stalybridge after the Linnets lost 2-1 to lowly Hucknall Town on Sunday.
The result leaves Steve Soley's men just two points above the drop zone with just two games left - away at Kettering and 'home' to Lancaster - to save themselves.
Runcorn were 2-0 down thanks to a Hucknall goal in each half before rallying through Craig Heenighan's deflected debut goal but Moor Green's shock away win at high-flying Harrogate means it is really one of two for the drop.
With next opponents Kettering battling Altrincham for the fourth play-off place, and Stalybridge having two games in hand, a demoralised Runcorn may have to rally round quickly if their fate is to remain in their hands.
