The town is a disgrace. Nearly every hedge, grass verge, car park and street is covered with litter.

The river just by B&Q and Arnold Clarke Vauxhall is full of rubbish and trolleys from B&Q.

The railway station and the stairs leading to the station are covered in litter, empty cans and bottles.

Tesco's car park and the bushes that surround it are full of plastic bags.

The council should give the companies responsible for this land and equipment like trolleys seven days to get the area cleaned up and if they fail to do so, the council should clean it up and send the offending business the bill.

The companies involved should also be made aware that this behaviour will not be tolerated.

The fence down by the river has been in a state of disrepair now for months. Before a child gets killed or injured, this should be repaired or replaced.

Can the council not employ a litter/rubbish warden who has the power to issue fines to the litter louts and firms who flout the laws?

The position would be self-funding, as it would make Northwich a better place for people to live and visit.

And the fines could go towards the wardens' wages. The people of this town pay a great deal to the council in Council Tax and they deserve to be able to live in a clean and litter-free environment.
