KNUTSFORD 157 for 5 (40 overs)

CHELFORD 141 for 5 (40 overs)

THE two teams enjoyed a well-contested friendly on Saturday.

Opting to bat first, new skipper Perks (26) and Morphet (55) made a steady start before Sharpe's introduction saw him peg the visitors back with a brace of wickets. Sheridan (19) and debutant Stone (26 not out) carried on the good work as Chelford skipper Western shuffled his pack in search of stability. Eventually he paired Dingle with Hough who provided the required steadiness, restricting their hosts to 157 in their 40 overs.

After an early setback, seeing Sheldon strike, Chelford's second wicket recovered well, particularly Dickinson (54) who kept his side in the contest.

Knutsford's four seamers, Sheldon (4-19), Iqbal, Baker and Barker along with Cook's left arm spin (1-27) always maintained some measure of control pushing the asking rate up and following Dickinson and Western's wickets, only Dingle's late flurry (20not out) stood between Knutsford and what proved a 16 run win.

Knutsford's league campaign starts in two weeks at home to Ashley.
