SIX new stroke beds have been delivered to Halton Hospital.
They were bought thanks to donations from the public.
The beds are electronically controlled and enable the patient to be properly positioned with ease.
This also means that patients with swallowing difficulties can be better positioned which makes it easier for them to eat and drink.
Some patients will be able to alter the bed themselves, giving them greater independence.
Helen Crombie, Directorate Manager of Medicine and Elderly Care said: "Four of the new beds are in the Stroke Unit, Ward B1, while the remaining two are in the admissions unit.
"Previous concerns expressed about the care of stroke patients in Halton has resulted in the use of kind donations made to the Halton medical unit from members of the general public in Halton to purchase the beds."
