AN ACCLAIMED Persian Artist is exhibiting her work at a Knutsford gallery.

Rezvan Kani's work will be on display at Firbob and Peacock in King Street from tomorrow (Thursday) to May 22.

Rezvan was born in Iran but has been based in the Principality of Andorra, nestled in the Spanish Pyrenees, since 1979.

Firbob and Peacock normally exclusively show the work of up and coming and established British based artists..

But the gallery decided to bend the rules for Rezvan.

"We were so impressed when we saw an exhibition catalogue of her work we offered her an exhibition," said business partner Ruth Rankin.

"Her paintings are very special, they have a wonderful imaginary feel with an almost Chagall approach to painting."

Powerful

Her modern expressionist paintings are influenced by her rich Persian heritage and carry the resonance of early 20th century European painting.

"She paints with great inner confidence using symbols, light and atmosphere within her work to create powerful pieces with great presence," said Ruth. "Her work revolves around the human figure, personality and emotions and is full of hidden meanings for us to discover.

"She has an original and unique style and an individual ability to express beauty, emotions and strong human messages in a cohesive, smooth and expressive way. "Her work has been widely collected and exhibited across the world in cities such as New York, Paris, London and Madrid."
