READING, writing and arithmetic are the keys to success in the classroom according to one Golborne school after scooping a new accolade.
Teachers and pupils at All Saints Primary School proved that getting back to basics is essential in a good education.
And their techniques were rewarded with a Quality Mark award last week.
The mark, granted by the Government's Department for Education, recognises good practice in traditional teaching areas.
The youngsters proved so good at reading and spelling that they are now the proud bearers of the Quality Mark status for the next three years.
Lisa Morgan, head teacher at the Hazel Grove school, said: "The staff were all delighted.
"It is the first time we have achieved this status and shows that despite our work with arts and physical education, we are acknowledged for basic skills-fundamental for well-rounded learning.
"And it is testament to the hard work of the entire school community."
