CREWE FC revived their bid to beat relegation with a vital 3-2 win at rivals Golborne Sports.

Danny Massey, Steve Parker and Jon Dawson were all on target to seal a crucial three points on Tuesday night.

Three successive league defeats had seen Ian O'Reilly's side hit rock-bottom while Golborne were enjoying a revival, shocking league leaders Middlewich Town 3-0 before beating Poynton 1-0.

But Crewe FC put a stop to it while boosting their own hopes of staying up with a performance full of guts and determination.

Trailing 1-0 early on, Crewe showed spirit and were put back on level terms when the keeper brought down Parker and Massey stepped up to coolly covert the resulting spot-kick.

The hosts hit back for an interval lead but it was a different story after the break.

Boss O'Reilly pushed Dawson up front and within five minutes the switch had paid off when Parker buried the perfect cross from Gareth Brooks.

With the bit between their teeth, Crewe went for it and finally led through Dawson's sublime overhead kick on 62 minutes.

It was end to end stuff followed with Brooks going close as Crewe clinched a crucial victory.

"It's a big win," admitted O'Reilly.

"Three points puts us back in with a shout now.

"Golborne had been on a good run but the lads have worked hard and got what they've deserved recently.

"It's back in our own hands now."

Dumping their opponents back to the bottom, Crewe now must repeat the result at lowly Linotype on Saturday.

"We must keeping winning now and we can bring Linotype into it," continued O'Reilly.

"It's another big game but they're all big games now."

Crewe FC are distracted from their league plight as they face Glossop in the Presidents' Cup Final at Trafford, tonight.

"The league's our priority but we're in a final and we want to win it," added O'Reilly.

"We'll do our best and enjoy it."

Crewe FC are at home against Styal, next Wednesday (KO 6.30pm).
