ONE of Nantwich's most popular nightspot's made a generous donation to the Mayor's charity this week.

The management of Gregory's Nightclub donated a cheque for £1,000 towards making play equipment available to children in disadvantaged areas - a good cause chosen by Councillor Steve Roberts.

The cash was raised at the club over the Easter weekend, during the town's Jazz and Blues Festival.

Cllr Roberts said: "It is contributions like this, from enterprises large and small, that have enabled this year's Mayor's charity to make some real differences to children's enjoyment and parent's resources."

The cheque was handed over by club manager Phil Ball and deputy manager Ben Johnson, both of whom have recently returned to Gregory's after working at several of the company's other venues.

Ben said: "We're both glad to have come back to Nantwich. The Easter Sunday night was well attended and we were close to our maximum 900 capacity."
