A TEENAGER who suffers from arthritis says her neighbour's constant support helps her through the tough times.

Sarah Bean, aged 16, was diagnosed with juvenile chronic arthritis when she was only five years old.

This week she nominated her neighbour, Barbara Gibson, aged 66 of Audre Close, Great Sankey, in the Warrington Guardian's Neighbour of the Year award.

Sarah said: "Barbara chats to me and makes me laugh. If I'm in the house she'll come to sit with me and always makes me feel better.

"When I was in hospital she came to visit me and she always pops in on a Sunday to see how we are all doing.

"She also makes a gorgeous cup of tea. Barbara has problems of her own, but she has always been here for me and my family when we needed her."

Sarah's mum, Ann, agrees that Barbara is 'one in a million'.

She said: "Barbara's a wonderful neighbour and friend. She and her husband are always happy to help and are always cheerful. I do a few hours voluntary work and if I'm not in Barbara will come over every hour to make sure she's okay."
