EARNIE Lea was victorious in the Newton Anglers' Association Spring Open sweepstake on Sunday after collecting an all-ide haul of 7lbs 1oz 0drms.
R Shorrocks finished second with ide weighing in at 3-8-2, Eddie Cook grabbed third position with 2-12-0 of ide.
The next match is on Sunday, with the draw at 10am on Red Brow car park. Pools are £8 for members or £9 for visitors - for details contact Mark on 223685.
Cook added to his third place with a win in the disabled and over 60s weekly sweepstake, after he netted a mixed bag of 8-9-0.
Dennis Greenalgh was second with an all-ide haul of 4-10-0, with 2-6-0 mixed bags causing a dead heat between Jeff Brooks and Harry Newton for third.
Membership to the Association is now open and new members can enrol at the Houghton Arms in Newton on Monday and Tuesdays at 8.30pm. New adult seniors and ladies are requested to bring two small photos for their ID pass.
