Dead Tree

The magazine of St Wilfrid's Grappenhall contains a telling tale.

"It is all too easy to take for granted the village scene of the church, and no doubt the very visible large oak tree that has been in position...forever!

However, one day a main branch crashed to the ground, having rotted through, and on further inspection, it was found that the trunk of the tree had also died.

"The villagers were very sad that 'their' beloved tree had died, but equally appalled that the 'people' responsible should let it happen! Could a similar thing happen to the Church of England? Or more importantly, to St Wilfrid's Church? Is no one taking responsibility for the future?

"The answer, of course, is the responsibility of each and every one of us to participate in whatever way possible, however small. Please do not leave it to someone else."
