Birchwood to host Scotland clash
WARRINGTON Netball League players are in contention for places in the Cheshire team that is to take on Scotland in an under 21s challenge match at Birchwood Leisure Centre on April 30.
The match - part of Scotland's preparations for the summer's world youth championships in Florida - will be the centrepiece of a showcase being organised at Cheshire level to promote junior netball in the county.
In advance of the 'international' event, there will be exhibition matches at under 11s and under 15s levels.
Doors will open at 11am, with the first exhibition match at 11.15am. The Cheshire versus Scotland game will follow at 1.30pm.
For tickets, which are priced £2 for adults, £1 for under 16s or £10 for school groups of 10 pupils and two adults, contact David Scott on 01625 500468.
Runners welcome
PICK up the pace by joining Warrington Road Runners in Stockton Heath.
The group meets every Tuesday and Friday at 7pm in the car park behind Broomfields Leisure Centre, and also on Sundays at 9.30am for a slow run.

Bowls competition
WARRINGTON Public Parks' Bowls League will hold their merit competition at Victoria Park on Tuesday.
The event starts at 6.30pm, and there will be no league games on that date. Entry is £3, and to book in contact Derek on 415089.

Duo celebrate win
PENKETH Bowls Club women's section are celebrating after one of their double acts won the Warrington Afternoon Bowls League Pairs competition.
Pat Mason and Sheila Mashford became the first from the club to win the competition and they did so by defeating St Elphins pair Margaret Williams and Gwen Carter in the final at Victoria Park.
Final loss for pair
KING and Queen bowler Chris Ashton and Julie Dickenson, of Orford WM, were defeated 21-18 in the final of Northwich's Winnington Park Pairs competition on Sunday. The event attracted 64 entries.
Shaw wins main
J SHAW defeated B Toft in the final of Stockton Heath Women's Bowls Club's opening main. The two losing semi-finalists were B Warburton and D Catterall.
Cheshire bowls
WARRINGTON players dominate the Cheshire women's bowls team line-up that is preparing to face North Lancashire and Fylde at Victoria Park on Sunday at 2pm.
Winter awards
WARRINGTON Dominoes Winter League's presentation of league trophies and prize monies will be on Wednesday at the delegates meeting.
