CHURCHGOERS are appealing for help in their bid to raise more than £50,000 for the refurbishment of the tower at St Bartholomew's Church, Church Minshull.
The 18th century church has been reopened to the public following essential repairs to the roof, but the church tower still requires restoration work.
It is believed that the work will cost more than £50,000, and a number of events have already been organised, including a spring plant sale and an art exhibition.
The plant sale and exhibition are both being held from April 30 to May 2 at the church, and all proceeds will go towards the tower restoration fund.
Fund-raiser Audrey Colquhoun said: "To us it's a very great amount of money so we're appealing for as much support as possible.
"The tower has now got to a critical stage, and the roof is in desperate need of repair."
