Marathon man makes top 200

FIVE Warrington Athletics Club members took part in the London Marathon on Sunday and one finished in the top 200.

Adrian Timmins had an excellent run on his debut to finish in 172nd place in 2hrs 38mins 51secs.

Neil Crompton, who made a late decision to take part after injury problems, finished in 462nd place in 2hrs 48mins 56secs and was followed home by Steve Burthem in 1,105th position in 2hrs 59mins 49secs and Neale Stephens in 1,547th spot in 3hrs 6mins 9secs.

Fiona McGrath was making her marathon debut and finished in 14,808th place in 4hrs 21mins.

Schoolboy success

WARRINGTON Schoolboys under 11s soccer team put in a great performance to defeat St Helens 5-2 in a league game.

Goals were scored by Tom Percival, two, Joe Guest, Andy Graham and Jack Hindle.

They will now take part in the North of England School Champnionships in Newcastle on May 21 after the event was postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

Roving for talent

WOOLSTON Rovers are looking for talented footballers to add to their under 10s squad next season.

Trials take place on Thursdays between 6.15pm and 7.30pm at Bennett's Recreation Ground, Padgate. Anyone interested should attend and ask for Phil, who can be contacted on 07989 849051.
