CROSFIELDS are the surprise package of the 2004/05 GMB Union National Cup campaign.

Wayne Harris' men make up the only side in this weekend's semi-finals outside of the National Conference League Premier Division.

Soap, of Division Two, provided a giant-killing act in the quarter finals on April 9 by knocking out Division One side Castleford Panthers 18-17 after extra time, but they will have to step up a gear to beat Skirlaugh on Humberside on Saturday.

The Hull outfit, who are currently mid-table in the top flight, are three times winners of the National Cup, with the last success being five years ago.

They are seeking their fifth appearance in the final, which will take place at Blackpool Football Club's Bloomfield Road ground on May 28.

Crosfields are the only Warrington team to have won the National Cup. Their solitary success was in the 1988/89 final, when Soap defeated Cumbrian giants Kells 25-11.

Terry Reid, who was Crosfields' man of the match in the league win at Heworth on Saturday, is seen making an impact against Hunslet Old Boys in Soap's opening round success of the National Cup last December.
