WARRINGTON Rowing Club's outstanding juniors represented the north west team in the Junior Inter-Regional National Championships and came home with three impressive medals.

The girls' junior 15 double sculls team of Taslim Hassain and Katy McQuillian swept to silver success, as did the boys' junior 14 coxed quad sculls team of Luke Balcerak, Chris Johnstone, Tom Pearson and James Whithead, with cox Emma Dunbavand.

Olivia Oakes won a bronze medal in the girls' junior 15 sculls on the Olympic standard regatta lake at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham.

This year Warrington provided the north west team with rowers in six events out of a total of 23 - the largest contingent the club has ever had selected for the inter-regionals.

All Warrington crews made their respective finals.

Warrington is one of the youngest rowing clubs in the United Kingdom.

To have young rowers coming through and achieving this level of performance is a tremendous tribute to the club's head coach, Richard Sinnott, and a vindication of the many hours of dedication and training on and off the water.

All of Warrington's medal winners at the championships are students at Lymm High School.

Warrington Rowing Club and Lymm High School are partners in Project Oarsome, a national initiative to recruit young rowers to the sport from schools which have not had a traditional involvement.

Currently Warrington are working with about 40 Lymm High School students through the project.
