LYMM Rugby Union Club's junior teams enjoyed successful runs in tournaments at the weekend.

The under sevens were eliminated from the Wilmslow Festival on try count after winning all their pool games and drawing in the semi finals.

They beat Ormskirk 6-4, Chester 2-1, Macclesfield 5-1, and drew with Wilmslow 4-4.

Lymm's under 14s put in a master class of running rugby and hard tackling at the Aldwinians Tournament, racking up more than 100 points from 16 tries and six conversions in five matches on their way to the final.

Player of the tournament and captain Rob Brown led from the front by scoring six tries on the day.

Lymm ran out of steam in the final and lost 15-0 against impressive Wirral RFC.

Lymm's under 10s team were unlucky to draw a fiercely fought opening tour match against Barnstaple in Devon.

They won two more games convincingly, to remain unbeaten on the team's first tour.

The try scorers in the three games were Chris Hunt, James Kimber, Josh Meeks, Alex Tetley, Daniel Walter and Ewan Cuthbertson.

Preston Grasshoppers 2nd 15

TWO breakaway tries by Preston earned them the North West Fairclough Homes Premier Division points in a game that Lymm should have won.

Numerous scoring chances were missed in each half but the pressure eventually told when Graham Simpson scored wide out.

A penalty by Paul Thatcher made it 8-10, but Preston were quick to capitalise on Lymm mistakes and broke out and scored.

Thatcher kicked another penalty to keep Lymm in the game but Preston managed to hang on for victory.

Lymm 3rd 16

LYMM'S first half points in their North West Fairclough Homes Division Three win came from a Liam O'Callaghan penalty and an opportunist try from Nick Harris.

Another O'Callaghan penalty was followed by a great try from prop John Grant.
