WARRINGTON Wolves' weekend was lifted by three great wins.

The Super League team gained their first away win of the season against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats while the under 21s and under 18s Academy sides recorded milestone victories too.

Paul Cullen's men came back from 16-4 behind to convincingly defeat Wakefield 40-28 at the Atlantic Solutions Stadium on Sunday.

Lee Briers and Martin Gleeson were in mesmeric form and set up the majority of the tries that were scored.

Briers bagged two for himself, as did Ben Westwood against his former club, and others came from Mike Wainwright, Jon Clarke, Nat Wood and Henry Fa'afili.

Mark Gleeson missed his first game of the season because of a stomach bug, while Paul Noone started a game for only the second time this year.

Kiwi international Logan Swann was not selected in order to give him one week of further recovery from an ankle problem but he hopes to be picked when Wolves tackle Hull FC at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday, kick-off 3pm.

Gary Chambers' under 21s side gained their first Senior Academy Championship win of the season against Leigh at Wilderspool on Saturday.

Dean Gaskell was among the scorers while Warren Stevens and Steve Pickersgill gave 80-minute performances in the pack. Pickersgill was then a substitute for the first team at Wakefield the following day.

Centre Anthony Jerram scored two great tries on his return from long-term injury.

Dave Elliott's under 18s side confirmed their position in the Junior Academy's elite division with a third successive win in the grading phase on Saturday.

The impressive young Wolves won 22-20 at Leeds Rhinos, and Andy Bracek was a stand out performer.
