CHANDRA Law gave an amusing and enlightening talk on Malaysian batik. This is the method of producing coloured designs on silk and cotton fabrics by applying hot wax to the parts to be left uncoloured. Batik is a compulsory subject for girls in Malaysia and it is important to master the art in order to earn a living.
The coffee morning raised £176 and members were reminded that many plants were needed to sell at the garden afternoon on June 27 in order to meet the '£10 to grow' challenge. The next walk will be on May 5 to Anderton, when the bluebells should be at their best.Competition winners this month were D Zimmerman, J Witter and B Drummon-Allsop.
