ELIZABETH O'Neill explained how she became an 'Aqua Lovely' during the hey day of the Winter Gardens and the swimming stadium in Morecambe.
We heard that on her first day in the job the outdoor pool was covered with ice, but their trainer, a lady called Dorita, made then get into the water and swim.
When they got out of the pool their fingers were so cold that had to form a circle to fasten each other bras!
She met many stars during her time as an Aqua Lovely and appeared live on TV in the Ronnie Hilton Show from Blackpool Hydro. She had many funny stories to tell us and we enjoyed a happy evening.
Our next meeting is on May 5 at the Scout headquarters.
