WARRINGTON Wolves youngster Phil Berry has been banned from the game for two years after a positive drugs test.

A meeting of the Rugby Football League advisory panel ruled late on Wednesday that the winger had tested positive for nandrolone.

And the panel decided to hit him with an immediate two-year ban and ordered him to pay the costs.

However, on Thursday morning, club officials were remaining tight-lipped over the youngster's future.

They declined to comment until after the weekend although the positive test could signal the end of his Wolves career.

The 19-year-old provided the sample at a club training session in December.

News of Berry's positive test came to light in February as he had just begun to break into the first team.

Berry scored for the academy Grand Final-winning side against Huddersfield in November and he also played for the first team in the Christmas friendly against Widnes and again in the win over Whitehaven in January.

He has been suspended by the club since the positive test.

At the same hearing, Huddersfield Giants player Sean Penkywicz was banned for two years after testing positive for stanozolol.
