A RECORD number of drug users are being treated in Warrington, according to a new report.
A total of 312 new people contacted the Drug Action Team last year, making the total number of people in contact with treatment services 606.
Mark Bellis, director of the centre for public health in the north west, said: "The report is a dramatic reminder of the importance of good drug services, especially for our most deprived communities."
The north west is now making substantial progress towards meeting the Governments Drug Strategy target of doubling the number of people in drug treatment by 2008.
The report was published on Monday.
