THIS year's Grappenhall Walking Day will take place as usual in the summer.
Organisers have confirmed that fears over the future of the popular procession have been dispelled - at least for this year.
The walk, which includes members of Grappenhall Independent Methodist Church and St Wilfrid's Church, takes place on Saturday, June 23.
The procession, like others across the borough, had been placed under threat by changes to the way police cover the events.
However an agreement has been reached that means this summer's walk will go ahead.
Clr Graham Welborn, of the Independent Methodist Church, said he was delighted.
He added: "We would like to say a big thank you to the borough council for its help in making sure the event goes ahead.
"We will now seek a way of keeping it going in future years."
